Yvonne (Smith)Jeffers went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Yvonne (Von) was born in West Virginia to Anderson and Nettie Smith on July 16, 1937, one of 12 children. Yvonne was the first to graduate high school in her family. She graduated from Meadow Bridge High School in Meadow Bridge, W.VA. She enjoyed staying in touch with her friends from school on social media.
Yvonne loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a care giver and substitute teacher when her children were small. She had many talents. She loved to sing and even participated as a backup singer on a weekly radio show with the Carter Family. She was a believer in Christ. She taught Sunday School and was active in her church. Yvonne owned her own business for years fabricating purses, reupholstering furniture, auto and boat cushions. She worked for Walgreen’s for 20 years as a cosmetician and often ranked top in sales for her district. Yvonne loved having a cup of coffee while visiting with friends and family and playing with her “ringer washer” that was her mother’s. There was always a good story to be told.
She is preceded in death by her parents Anderson and Nettie Smith, brothers and sisters, Wayne Smith, Witson Smith, Barbara Harmon, Billie Jean Smith Anderson Smith Jr, Thelma Lott, Alvin (James)Smith, and Geneva Smith, nephews, James Douglas Smith, Pitoni(Tony)Smith, Tracy Smith and great nephews Cody Laulusa and Jonathan Pesterfield.
Yvonne was survived by her husband George Jeffers, three children, Jerry Posten(Lisa), Mike Posten, and Kathryn Posten, two step children, Joe Coleman and Michelle Horn, two brothers, Tony Smith(Lynette), Freeman Smith(Gwendolyn J Hyder Smith), sister Rosa Lee Hillman, Grandchildren, Trevor Posten, Cory Posten, Mike Posten II, Tyler Poston, Kaitlyn Snipe(Stephen), Joshua James, Kristen James, Maguire James, Great Grandchildren – Kameron Posten, Lauren Posten, Mike Posten III, Stella Poston, Luna Poston, Owen and Everett Snipe, Joseph James, and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Celebration of Life service at Fraker Funeral Home, March 8th, 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in honor of Yvonne Jeffers. A special thanks to Ronnie Nickell who has been there for our family for many years. Pastor Ronnie Nickell will deliver the message.
