Shirley Ann Wilkins Halburnt, 89, went to be with our Lord August 28, 2024 after complications from a sudden illness.  An avid UT Volunteer fan, she ushered for UT sporting events and concerts.  Shirley worked in maintenance at Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge, in real estate for Century 21, and as a dental assistant.  Originally from Virginia, she lived most of her adult life in Oak Ridge and finally Lenoir City, TN.

Shirley was a most loving and social person.  With a light and happy heart, she made an effort to remember everyone’s name.  She was a great cook (best mashed potatoes for her grandkids, always chocolate pie for her son) and loved her family, pets and friends.  She was a league bowler in Oak Ridge and played golf.  She and Jack took many trips, her favorite was the beach, not for swimming but because of the seafood.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Pauline Wilkins of Virginia; her husband, Jack J. Halburnt; her brother, Sonny Wilkins; her daughter, Gail Myers; and her grandson, Greg Myers. 

She is survived by her son, Keith (Connie) Childs of Alvin, TX; her daughter, Laura (James) Paschal of Murfreesboro, TN.; her daughter, Kathleen Halburnt of Cookeville, TN.; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Fraker Funeral Home in Kingston, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm.   Online register book can be signed at www.FrakerFuneralHome.net.  Fraker Funeral Home of Kingston is in charge of arrangements.
