John Stone Obituary

John David Stone, age 79, of Etowah passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Decatur Wellness & Rehabilitation Center.  He was born August 13, 1946 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was of the Baptist faith.  John was a United States Army veteran who served his country proudly and received several medals of honor during his time of service. 

John was a retired Computer Programmer/Analyst and loved working with computers.  He was also an avid photographer and had a great passion and talent for taking photos, having his work displayed in various areas. He also enjoyed gun collecting and shooting guns in earlier years.

Preceded in death by his son, Mark Stone; parents, James Marion Stone & Louetta Cornish Stone.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, Monday, October 6, 2025 at Paint Rock Baptist Church with funeral service following at 12:00 noon in the church sanctuary with Rev. Jeff Parrott officiating.  Interment will follow the service at Paint Rock Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors being conducted at the gravesite by the Roane County Honor Guard.
