James David “Dooger” Cofer, age 65, of Kingston and a lifelong resident of Roane County, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.  He was born February 13, 1959 in Rockwood.  Dooger was one of a kind, life of the party kind of guy.  He was an excellent carpenter and craftsman, and he would do anything in the world for those he loved.  He loved listening to music and sitting around a good fire, telling stories or reading Stephen King novels.  Dooger liked to cook and made the best manicotti but always made chili too spicy for anyone else to eat. He enjoyed the WCW wrestling from the 80s/90s, old pick up trucks, cut off jeans, hats, old guns, and camo.  He will sorely be missed by all who knew him.  Preceded in death by his grandparents, Dorothy & Frank Brackett; mother, Mary Brackett; and grandson, Nathaniel McNew.
