DARYL R. LEEHAUG, age 67, passed away on March 27, 2020 in Kingston, TN. He was born on December 26, 1952, the son of Shirley Zintak Leehaug Bannes and Raymond Leehaug. Daryl graduated from Carl Sandburg High School (Orland Park, Illinois) in 1970. Thereafter, he graduated with a BS degree in Business & Economics from Illinois Institute of Technology and an MS in Finance from Northwestern Illinois University. Upon graduation and after passing the CPA exam in 1976, Daryl joined the firm of Duff & Phelps in Chicago. He worked as a fixed income bond analyst and retired in 2000 as a Senior VP, leaving behind some life-long friends.
Daryl was a loving son, brother, cousin, uncle, and dear friend to many. He had many interests, especially the Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan at their helm, the Chicago White Sox, traveling, playing single-deck blackjack at El Cortez in Las Vegas, fantasy football, supporting his favorite political party, and most of all, spending time with family. All who knew Daryl appreciated his dry sense of humor, his wit, his loyalty, and his generosity.
Missing him immensely are his four favorite sisters, Gale (Mel) Krieger, Dale (Jim) Canino, Terry (Bill) Rusin, and Janet (Bill) Spears, his 11 amusing nephews & nieces, and his 10 darling great-nieces & nephews.
Daryl is predeceased by his father, Raymond Leehaug and John Bannes, long-time, respected husband of his mother, Shirley.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be planned at a later date. To honor Daryl, in lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Association. Fraker Funeral Home of Kingston in charge of all the arrangements.
