Billy Rex Davis Obituary

Billy Rex Davis

December 6, 1951 – February 5, 2025

Age 73

Kingston, Tennessee

It is with love and laughter mixed with tears that we announce the passing of Billy Rex Davis, a man whose life was defined by his kind heart, his endless generosity, and an unmatched ability to make everyone around him feel special. A jack of many trades and master of kindness, generosity and dad jokes,Billy left us on February 5, 2025, but his legacy of love, humor, and hard work will live on in every one of us who had the privilege to know him.

Billy was born and raised in Abilene, Texas, where he made lifelong friends. He worked hard throughout his life, from his time at Timex, General Dynamics and finally, his role as an estimator at Kraftsman Auto Body, he showed his dedication and skill in every task he took on. He retired in Kingston, Tennessee and enjoyed finding new fishing spots and sitting outside observing nature. Although he was committed to excellence in his jobs, he always made time for his friends, family and hobbies. Billy loved the outdoors and spent countless hours by the pond fishing or out on the Pacific Ocean hunting for an elusive marlin or catching aku left and right. He enjoyed many years of scuba diving, skeet shooting, and working on cars. An excellent mechanic, and “fixer,” Billy always showed up to help out. This was one of the ways he showed love: through action, by making sure everyone around him was taken care of. His kindness had no bounds, and neither did his generosity. He didn’t just fix things—he fixed hearts, always putting others first, always ensuring everyone was taken care of before himself.

Billy's love for his family was evident in everything he did. He was the rock and the moral compass for his wife, Denise, and his children: Bradley Davis (Jessica), Stephanie  Brown (Jason), and Jillian Davis. He adored his grandchildren: Megan, Mason, and Daweson, and they, in turn, adored him. His stories, his dad jokes, and his wisdom became a treasure for each of them, and his legacy will live on in their hearts.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Billy N. and Leona M. Davis, and will be forever remembered by his siblings, Teresa Culbert (Jimmy), Gaylon Davis (Suzanne), Deborah Ellison, and his many loved ones, including his beloved Hawaii Ohana, John Florek (preceded in death by Bernadette Boehmer), Tony and Patty Mitchell, Bob Roller (Susan Webster). He was also a cherished nephew to "Uncle Bobbie" Davis and Aunt Charlene Ashby.

Those who knew him will remember him for his quiet strength, his unwavering moral compass, and his ability to make even the toughest of times feel a little lighter. He believed in the power of kindness, in doing the right thing, and in the importance of standing up for what’s right—even when it wasn’t easy.

Billy’s spirit was that of a peacemaker. Whether refereeing family disagreements or quietly supporting a friend in need, he found balance in making sure everyone was okay while never compromising his own values. He taught us all patience, generosity, and the importance of laughter. And oh, how he loved a good dad joke!

Even though Billy may no longer walk among us, his presence will be felt in every kind act, in every shared story, and in every dad joke we tell. We will carry on his legacy of kindness and love, ensuring his spirit lives on in the way we treat others and the way we live our lives.

Billy's passing may have left a hole in our hearts, but it has also filled them with an overwhelming amount of love, laughter, and appreciation for the time we had with him. His memory will forever be a beacon of light, and his legacy of love, humor, and generosity will live on in all who knew him.

In honor of Billy, we ask that you give of yourself to others, just as he gave so freely throughout his life.

Billy Rex Davis, you were loved beyond measure, and we will forever be grateful for the time we shared with you. Rest easy. You’ll be missed, but never forgotten.

A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at a later date. Fraker Funeral Home of Kingston is in charge of arrangements.
